Lee Dewyze wins Idol 9

It all came down to Lee Dewyze the young paint salesman from Chicago and the talented Crystal Bowersox- aka MamaSox- the single mother from Ohio. Right from the beginning, these two musicians were two of our early favorites to be in the Idol finale . We also figured that either Andrew Garcia, Mike Lynche or Casey James would battle for the top 3 spot. Turned out to be Casey.

The finale performance show seemed to go well for both artists, but we felt that Crystal may have had an edge over Lee in her energy level and stage presence. This opinion seemed to be echoed by the judge's critiques as well. It almost seemed that the judges were pushing a little for Crystal. The judge's comments may have ignited the Lee Dewyze fan base resulting in a winning number of votes for their beloved Lee. In our household, we loved both performers, but we felt that Lee Dewyze was somebody that would fit the mold of Our Next American Idol just a little bit better than Crystal. Don't get me wrong, we'll buy Crystal's album when it's released. Our hunch was right as America selected the humble paint salesman as America's favorite. Lee performed an emotional rendition of U2's "Beautiful Day" while confetti sprinkled down from the rafters at the Kodak Theatre.

Looks like one of Mudge Studios' Pi Day designs was recognized by Zazzle in their Zazzle Tops Today's Best Awards. Look for the bottom right design in the image above to see the featured Pi Day design. It's the one with the Funny Pi symbol outfitted with eye patch, sword, pirate hate with skull and cross bones and of course a parrot perched on the shoulder. Argh. A Couple More Idol Picks.

American Idol is down to the Top 16 Now. I'm looking forward to the numbers dwindling down a bit more- so that we can see more performance time from our favorites. Last blog we featured t-shirts and gift ideas for fans of Andrew Garcia and Crystal Bowersox. This time we cover some designs that Mudge Studios created for Lilly Scott and Lee Dewyze fans.

Lilly is another very unique artist performing her heart out on American Idol Season 9.  Over the past couple of weeks, Lilly Scott picked The Beatles' "Fixing A Hole" and Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" to perform. As these song selections certainly aren't riding the wave of a popular song selection found on today's top 40 charts, Lilly is proving that American does appreciate, truly enjoy and support the performance of unique singer-song writers. As Randy Jackson said, Lilly Scott is a true Indie Artist. We'll cast votes for lilly for that!

Our Next pick is Lee Dewyze the 23 year old from Illinois. Did you catch Lee's performance featuring Hinder's "Lips of an Angel."?  Lee is an early favorite on American idol with that grainy voice that would certainly sound great on a record or on the radio right now!  Kara DioGuardi seconds that motion. Even Simon Cowell appreciates what Lee brings to the American Idol table- as Simon says that Lee was "head and shoulders above everyone else" and "may be the one to beat."
