Score Free Woolly | Threadless until Nov 19th, 2013: Sorry, It's Too Late to... Free Woolly. The weekend is here and I just wanted to do something a little twisted. Not sure why I picked this theme because ever since I was a child, I actually loved the Woolly Mammoth. I still get excited when I hear all that talk about cloning, especially when a perfectly preserved specimen has been discovered somewhere deep in the frozen tundra. Maybe it's not too late for this furry friend?!

Threadless recently provided the opportunity to revisit the eighties when Fraggle Rock sposored a design contest to celebrate 30 years of Fraggle Rock. I grew up with the first airing of the Muppet Show, so it was an honor to be able to partricipate. Mudge Studios submitted 5 designs featuring a  variety of styles and concepts. Plain White Tees Challenge at Threadless

Worked hard last week to come up with three new designs for the Threadless Challenge spotlighting the awesome band known as the Plain White T's. The challenge required the design to feature either glow in the dark or uv inks or both. I went the route of the uv inks because I had never design for them. I also love the idea that part of the design doesn't reveal itself until the shirt is exposed to sunlight. I really enjoyed this challenge as I listened to a ton of Plain White Tees music which kept me inspired. This Plain White T's sub was inspired by their song the Giving Tree complete with the pocket knife that carved the heart into what was at one time the great giving tree. A stump remains as the singer/ songwriter wails away on his acoustic guitar. The choices were to either nurture love and build a home or build that sail boat, forsake love and sail away. Great song!

Too funny. I just got another email from one of our other POD shops about another Pi Day Design at RedBubble. Looks like the anticipation for Pi Day is starting to Ramp Up. Looks like they have discovered Mudge Studios' Wanna piece of this Pi? t-shirt. This Pi Day design features a fiesty Pi Symbol ready to duke it out. That's right- if you want your piece of the Pi, then you are going to have to work for it. The images below illustrated the Pi Day design mentioned.

I Dig Dinosaurs Triceratops Design

I Dig Dinosaurs Tee at Mudge's Zazzle Shop

I dig dinosaurs- especially Triceratops. Triceratops comes to us from the Greek language meaning Three-Horned face. These dinosaurs thrived in what is now North America during the late Cretaceous Period which was about 68 to 65 million years ago. For decades, there has been much speculation as to the many possible purposes for the three horns and frill. Defense against predators, courtship display and even the assistance in regulating Triceratop's body temp have been debated. For me this is a no-brainer. Since childhood I was awed by this magnificent beast with its armor plated skull and built in lances. As I played with my plastic dinosaur toys, I imagined and reenacted the epic battles against Triceratop's foe- the king of the terrible lizards… tyrannosaurus rex. I recall several classic dinosaur paintings and illustrations by Charles R. Knight and others depicting such a scene. As a kid, I most always pictured the Great Three-horn like a tank relentlessly marching forward and ending the conflict with its brow spears penetrating deep into the T-Rex's soft abdomen. I think that it had to do with thinking that T- Rex was the bad guy, the bully that would terrorize all the other dinosaurs in its kingdom. I always pictured Triceratops as the only dinosaur that could stand up to M. T.

New Mudge Studios Shop @ Skreened

In an effort to branch out and get more exposure for  Mudge Studios' art. Mudge Studios has decided to search for and try out some additional Print On Demand opportunities. Everyone knows that CafePress is over run with a million other shops. I've discovered a few companys that could pan out. Featured in this posting is Skreened. Skreened is a small outfit located in Columbus, Ohio. I found them online when I searched for alternative PODs. The following is what the people of Skreened have to say:

"Skreened uses new technology to print soft, durable, full color prints directly onto garments.

It's an efficient CMYK printing process that allows us to print as few as 1 item cost effectively.

In addition to our technology, we only print onto garments that have been manufactured in verified work conditions that do not exploit workers." 

So far the process for uploading and creating product seems easy with a friendly interface. Skreened allows the set up of multiple free shops with the freedom to set your own commission. The drawback at this point seems to be that there is really no way to customize the look of one's shop. Organizing the Mudge Studio's shop seemed very primitive as well. As such, my Mudge Studios Shop comes across as very basic...

Thanks to Skreened, Mudge Studios is now selling a number of products with Mudge's unique Artwork on them.
