A couple of years ago, Mudge created a Stop Cyber-Bullying Logo to be used on a variety of products like t-shirts, buttons, stickers, etc. to help grow awareness for the growing problem of Cyberbullying. Since then, we've gotten to know a couple of families that have had children tormented in this fashion right here in our local school system.
These days with many more stories being told in the media, most people are now aware of Cyberbullying. Cyberbullying has some similarities to traditional bullying- only Cyberbullying is perpetrated through the use of today's high technology. Quite often this allows today's bully the ability to  harass their target easily and anonymously. In many cases, the damage caused by today's form of Bullying can be exponentially worse than in the days of the school yard bully. Armed with the access to the internet and the ability to bombard a victim with endless text messages, a Cyber-Bully can send a multitude of threatening emails and texts to the victims in a variety of forms. In the age of information, Cyberbullies have also learned how to gain easy access to the personal information of their targets and then exploit this at websites or in forums and bulletin boards.  Sometimes the Cyberbully will even creating false accounts in order to impersonate and humiliate their victims with damaging rumors, etc in these forums. Cyberbullies intentionally build a relentless campaign to bring together the target's peers in an effort to gang up and collectively destroy their victims.
As one could imagine, the psychological abuse suffered by the victims of cyberbullying can lead to permanent scarring- especially if assistance is not sought. This can happen to anybody, but imagine the plight of a teenager or young person who feels isolated and feels that they can not turn to their parents or an authority figure for help. It is not surprising that depression, and in some extreme cases, suicide can be the devastating result. Fortunately, the level of awareness of Cyber Bullying has risen dramatically over the last few years. New legislation is being introduced and passed in many states. Cyberbullying is recognized as a serious crime and perpetrating it will have the Consequence of the Law.
As mentioned above, the education of the awareness of cyberbullying has improved. Mudge Studios has also taken the time to improve the design of our Stop Cyberbullying logo. Education, Awareness and Legislation are the keys to Stopping this old school crime gone new school.

Mick Jagger Caricature for CD Review

Mick Jagger Caricature Mudge Studios 1993
Mick Jagger Caricature CD Review 1993
The Mick Jagger Caricature above was featured on the May 1993 cover of CD Review. At the time, Mick Jagger had released his third solo album titled Wandering Spirit. The solo effort was a success, receiving critical acclaim and commercial success as it took home the Gold in the U.S. It was a pleasure to do this assignment as Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones were one of my favorites while I was in High School. Mick has been going at it for well over 50 years now delivering a multitude of classic, rather Iconic tunes. Mick Jagger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Stones in 1989- and although it seems very odd, Mick was also actually knighted in 2003 by the Prince of Wales. I never quite understood that one as Mick Jagger had always been a symbol of opposition to conventional social and political values and principals.
Some of My Favorite Rolling Stones songs include: 'Gimme Shelter', 'Angie' 'Pain tIt, Black', 'Satisfaction', 'Can't you hear me knocking', 'Tumbling Dice' and just about everything else on Exile on Main St. During my lifetime, I've gotten to see them live only once. Unfortunately it was in a rather large venue, and that really didn't cut it for me. Just way too commercial. The lucky fans are those that are able to catch the band performing under a pseudonym while tuning up for a Super Show at a small local venue in the area.
Check out some of the Mick Jagger and Stones Swag that Mudge picked out for you at the side panel to your right.

NYUK! NYUK! Three Stooges Assignment 1993

Three Stooges Illo. by Mudge Studios 1993

Featured above is a photo of the magazine cover illustration by Mudge Studios for Card Collector's Price Guide back in 1993. Back then, I worked with Liquitex Acrylics on Strathmore Illustration board using watercolor techniques in this piece. From left to right stand Larry, Curley and Moe- known collectively as The Three Stooges. After this periodical hit the newstands, I received a phone call from a Three Stooges collector who wished to purchase the original artwork from me. He was looking to acquire the original illustration, the Three Stooges Trading Card Featured on the cover as well as a copy of the Price Guide. He offered a fair price so I sold the Collector the art. He eventually mailed me a picture of the completed collection that he had professionally matted and framed.
The Three Stooges were Slapstick at its best. Moe, Larry and Curly were an American Vaudeville Act that churned out some of the funniest short films ever made. When I was a kid going back to the 70's and 80's, I was fortunate that the Three Stooges reruns were frequently broadcasted on a UHF station that our family could actually get with the antenna that my dad had bolted to the side of the house. All of The Three Stooges films that I have seen were all shot in Black and White which certainly stamps these gems as classic. Funny, Just the other day, I stumbled upon the Stooges and there I remained for over an hour. The Three Stooges certainly stand the test of time as I chuckled immediately on site. Turns out our twenty something year old daughter even watches the Stooges periodically.

Gangnam Style... Heeey Sexy Lady!

Oppan Pugnam Style by Mudge Studios

Really enjoyed our Thanksgiving celebration in scenic Vermont this year. It was a pleasure as several of our relatives from Canada were able to join us for the festivities. I had an opportunity to chat with the kids and some of the teens in particular about current events and some pop culture. I asked them if they'd heard of Gangnam Style. The response was electric as everybody had heard of PSY and some of them knew how to do that horse riding dance. Of course, one of them had to get the smart phone out and start playing the YouTube videos of PSY's Gangnam Style. I have to admit, the tune was catchy. I can see why PSY's video went viral. Are we talking about a K-pop invasion?

Anyway, I had a few hours between projects- so I thought that I'd have a little fun with a Gangnam Style parody. The illustration below is titled Op, Op, Op, op…. Oppan Pugnam Style. Featured are three pugs sporting cool shades with attitude. The Pug is styling' in his black suit as he does the horse dance. The background gives a glimpse of what Gangnam, South Korea looks like. Only Wish that I could animate.

I've Selected some Gangnam Style Swag sold over at Amazon.com. You can see all of the PSY and Gangnam Style Merch in the widgets on your right. Some of my favorites include: The officially licensed PSY t-shirts by YG Entertainment. The Caricature of PSY by the Korean Artist is spot on. Also have some Gangnam Style MP3 files too. Just had to include some of the parodies!
